SFEL is a member of the European Federation Euro Fed Lipid.
The European Federation for the Science and Technology of Lipids (Euro Fed Lipid) was created in October 2000, on the joint initiative of the German Association, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Fettwissenschaf (DGF) and AFECG (now Sfel).
Euro Fed Lipid is a federation of 11 scientific associations concerned with Lipids, Fats and Oils. The federation represents 2000 individuals and companies:

- Czech Chemical Society, Working Group "Fats, Detergents and Cosmetic Chemistry"
- Deutsche Gesellschaft für Fettwissenschaft (DGF)
- European Section of the American Oil Chemist's Society (AOCS)

For research and knowledge
As a non-profit organization, the Federation aims to promote :
- cooperation and exchanges between the various European societies and associations,
- the development of fundamental and applied lipid research activities at European level,
- the dissemination of scientific and technical knowledge on lipids
Frank Amoneit is Managing Director.
An annual symposium
Euro Fed Lipid organizes an annual European symposium, and is responsible for editing the European Journal of Lipid Science and Technology (EJL).
