Journées Chevreul 2020 : Les lipides au cœur d’enjeux de transition

Les lipides représentent 33% des apports énergétiques des adultes français (INCA 3). Ce sont donc des macronutriments essentiels consommés majoritairement sous forme cachée dans les aliments. Les variations de consommation des lipides accompagnent les transitions alimentaires au même titre que pour les protéines. Les nouvelles recommandations sur l’alimentation durable (FAO, 2016) préconisent la consommation de sources de lipides durables et équilibrées en ω3/ω6. Ces recommandations comprennent en outre des directives nationales parfois divergentes en termes de nutrition lipidique ou des régimes spécifiques (nordiques, méditerranéens…) d’intérêt. En outre, les principes de l’alimentation durable qui impliquent une diminution globale de la consommation de sources de protéines animales au profit des sources végétales vont entrainer un changement du profil en acides gras ingéré. A côté des sources traditionnelles de lipides (graines et baies d’oléo-protéagineux) et des sources tout aussi essentielles mais moins pérennes (marines par exemples), des sources nouvelles (technologie verte, blanche et insectes…) ont fait leur apparition. Quel sera l’équilibre de ces sources et leur exploitation durable dans un contexte de développement de la bioéconomie locale et globale ? Les molécules lipidiques constituent également des vecteurs privilégiés favorisant absorption et bio-accessibilité dans le domaine pharmaceutique par exemple. La dernière partie de ces journées sera donc dédiée à éclairer le rôle que peuvent jouer les lipides en tant que nouveaux vecteurs dans le domaine pharmaceutique.

La SFEL est heureuse de vous accueillir en distanciel pour partager nos points de vue autour de ces nouveaux défis en cette fin d’année 2020. Les lipides dans un contexte d’alimentation et de développement durable doivent relever ces enjeux au même titre que les protéines. En rassemblant un panel d’experts pluridisciplinaire du monde industriel et académique, nous vous proposons un tour d’horizon des défis et perspectives d’application nouvelles des lipides au cœur d’enjeux de transition.

Journées CHEVREUL 2017 Lipids and Brain IV: Lipids in Alzheimer Disease

Since 2007, the SFEL organize each 4 years an international conference held in Paris “Lipids & Brain Journées Chevreul” with the participation of several European scientific associations (2007 DGF, 2011 Norway L&B, 2015 SCI). Over a period of 3 days, “Lipids & Brain” conferences examine the latest findings in this field of research from leading researchers into both fundamental and applied research on the metabolism of FAs and PUFAs within the brain and the retina, with a focus on neural pathologies. They provided an opportunity to extend our knowledge in these fields of research and on the relationship between nutrition, FAs, lipids and central nervous system function during development and ageing. They have also honoured with the French “CHEVREUL Medal” Dr Stanley I. Rapoport (Bethesda, USA) and Pr. Nicolas G. Bazan (New Orleans, USA) and Dr Crawford (London, UK) for their pioneering research.
Lipids & Brain conferences have now become a benchmark in this field of research, the only one in Europe to date, and is backed by all international societies.
This year, only two years after the large success of the last one in 2015, we organize in Lorraine University a special Lipid and Brain IV dedicated to “Lipids in Alzheimer disease”. We will examine the latest findings in this world growing disease with the objective is to assemble the medical community and the scientists and to improve connections, discussions and exchanges between physicians, nutritionists and fundamental scientists, in an attempt to develop prevention and treatments of this human pathology. Moreover, the SFEL has decided to honour a scientist who dedicated his carrier to a very original research in this field: Pr Stephen Cunnane (Université Sherbrooke, Canada) by the French Chevreul Medal 2017.

The Journées Chevreul Lipids & Brain III 2015 conference has been held in Paris on 16-18 March 2015.
Professor Michael Angus CRAWFORD from Imperial College (London, UK) received the CHEVREUL medal for his research on DHA identification as a major determinant of brain growth and plausible evolution of the human brain.
He put forward a quantum mechanical theory for the exclusive conservation of DHA in neural signalling
membranes over the 600 m.y. of animal evolution. Michael Crawford has been awarded several international prizes and medals for his work

CHIMIE DU VÉGÉTAL ET LIPOCHIMIE

L’industrie chimique prévoit une forte augmentation de l’usage des matières premières renouvelables dans l’UE et les Etats-Unis d’ici 2020, motivée par des coûts compétitifs et le souci de responsabilité envers la santé et les questions environnementales.
Cette tendance sur la longue durée ouvre des opportunités nouvelles pour les huiles et les lipides en termes d’applications à haute valeur ajoutée (lubrifiants, les polymères, les tensio-actifs …) et ce compte tenu de leurs propriétés fonctionnelles et autre empreintes carbones favorables.
