The ICBL (International Conference on the Bioscience of Lipids) and GERLI (Group of Studies and Research on Lipids, France) are joining forces to organize a conference on lipid science entitled ‘Lipids In All States’, September 21st to 24th, 2026. The conference will be held in Bordeaux and will cover several topics ranging from chemistry to biology and medicine of lipids. It is expected to bring together more than 200 attendees from all continents. This highly anticipated event in the lipid biosciences community will bring together leading researchers to discuss the latest advancements in the biology of lipids from all organisms and models.

A large diversity of topics will be covered including Membrane Lipids, Algae & Plant Lipids, Lipid Nutrition & Health, Lipids & Brain, Biopolymers & Lipids, Biodiversity of Lipids & hot topics, Lipids for Medicine & Pharmacy, and Lipids & Technology. Last minute hot topics in lipid sciences will also be included from the submitted abstracts! Furthermore, the meeting will start in the afternoon of Monday september 21st with a workshop on Imaging techniques for lipids and membranes, followed by two Opening Lectures.

The meeting will take place from September 23rd to 26th, 2024 at the prestigious European Institute of Marine Sciences in Plouzané near Brest and is jointly organized by the Université de Bretagne Occidentale, IRD, CNRS and Ifremer.

This highly anticipated event will bring together leading researchers to discuss the latest advancements in understanding lipid structure and functions in various organisms inhabiting aquatic and terrestrial environments.

During the meeting, new tools and techniques from disciplines such as biochemistry, cell biology, physiology, ecology, genomics, proteomics and lipidomics will be presented. These cutting-edge approaches will shed light on crucial questions concerning the diversity, functions and metabolism of lipids, as well as their industrial valorization.
To this end, 7 sessions will be proposed, from the description of the molecules’ structure to the definition of their role in the physiology of organisms, down to their use to feed populations. Sessions will also focus on analytical preservation and tracability techniques, as well as emerging fluxomics techniques.

Dear colleagues,

It is my greatest pleasure to announce that the International GERLI meeting will take place this year as a face-to-face meeting in Bordeaux,  September 26-29th, 2021. The current situation of the pandemic and progresses in vaccination at many places led us to consider having the meeting as initially planned.

I sincerely hope that many of you will come to Bordeaux to attend the 16th GERLI INTERNATIONAL LIPIDOMICS MEETING entitled “Tailored lipids: from synthesis to specific biological functions”, which will be one of the first event gathering our community ‘live’ again.

Abstract submission, registration and accommodation at the conference center Meriadek Hotel Ibis are now available on-line.

The conference center Meriadek Hotel Ibis already applies all sanitary rules necessary for such events in the current situation, and is now equipped with a hybrid platform for visioconferences, which will be implemented for those who will not be able to come, this in order to have our full audience.

The Scientific progam already includes an opening plenay lecture and eight scientific sessions comprising each an invited keynote speaker as well as three to four oral presentations selected from the abstracts. The exact order, length and organisation of the different sessions will depend on the submissions made by the attendees.
